From the outset, the ambition was to find a long-term partner to care for our heritage and Clearwater has assisted us in finding just that. Selling a business is a complex process and the team at Clearwater used their invaluable strategic experience to support me in navigating through the sale. The team managed the process in a timely and efficient manner, making sure that all stakeholders received the necessary and relevant information at the right time, allowing our organisation to focus on our customers and day to day operations. In Mölnlycke, a long-time customer and partner of M&J, we have found a strong strategic partner with values that match our own, and I look forward to continued success under the new ownership structure.

Mölnlycke’s acquisition of M&J is yet another example of a large OEM focusing their power on the most critical parts of the supply chain in order to decrease supply risk, and gain competitive advantages in the market. It has been a pleasure advising M&J, whilst carefully navigating this unique process of vertical integration. With M&J’s strong R&D capabilities, Mölnlycke will improve its future competitive position significantly in the global advanced wound care market. We look forward to seeing the synergies unfold in this new partnership.

The Danish healthcare market from an M&A perspective, remains highly attractive despite the recent turmoil in the financial markets. Underlying market trends such as an ageing population, stable growth expectations and increasing scope for public procurement, combined with its less cyclical nature and high entry barriers makes it an attractive segment for both strategic consolidators and financial acquirers.
