We have advised Terrafame, a fully-owned company of the state of Finland, on its acquisition of Talvivaara’s mining operations from the bankruptcy estate of Talvivaara Sotkamo Oy.
Talvivaara Sotkamo Oy was the operating subsidiary of Talvivaara Mining Company Plc. The mine uses a bioleaching process to produce mainly nickel and zinc. The Finnish state has reserved a total of €209m for Terrafame's mining operations. Terrafame will immediately restart the mining activities in Sotkamo.
