We have advised Medmark, one of Ireland's largest and most established occupational healthcare providers, on its strategic investment from Phoenix Equity Partners (Phoenix), the UK's leading mid-market backer of founder-entrepreneur-owned businesses.
Founded in 1987 and operating from nine locations across the island of Ireland, Medmark supports more than half a million employees nationwide through a comprehensive range of occupational health, health screening, workplace medical assessment and employee wellbeing services. The company employs a specialist clinical team of more than 70 occupational health physicians and nurses, supported by over 75 administrative, wellness and account management staff, and serves public and private sector organisations of all sizes in every sector of the economy. Medmark has built a long-standing reputation for quality, reliability and clinical excellence, reinforced by being the first organisation in Ireland to achieve SEQOHS accreditation in 2013.
Phoenix is the UK's leading mid-market backer of founder-entrepreneur-owned businesses, having successfully worked with 60 founders over the last two decades. Its philosophy is rooted in nurturing founders, their teams, and the entrepreneurial businesses and cultures they have built. The investment will support Medmark's next phase of growth, including expanding its clinical and operational teams, further investment in technology and digital health platforms, enhanced customer reporting and service delivery capabilities, broader geographic reach, and complementary acquisition opportunities across the island of Ireland.
Our team provided a full suite of sell-side advisory support to Medmark throughout the transaction. This is the second transaction we have advised Medmark on, having also acted for the company on the buy-side in its acquisition of Blackwell.
Our Debt Advisory team ran a lender education process involving Irish and international lenders to support the investment in Medmark, securing multiple financing proposals, with Phoenix selecting the lender best aligned to support the transaction and Medmark's next phase of growth.
