Clearwater has advised Palatine Private Equity portfolio company Wren Sterling, a leading independent financial advisory business, on raising debt acquisition financing facilities from DunPort Capital Management (DunPort), which supported the recent acquisition of White Wells Investments.

Established in 2015, Wren Sterling provides both private clients and corporates with a range of financial services including investment, financial planning and retirement advice. The business operates across the UK with offices based in London, Nottingham, Glasgow, Halifax, Warwick, Surrey, and Grantham.

DunPort is one of the leading providers of SME and corporate private debt solutions in the UK’s lower mid-market. Wren is the 26th company to have been supported by the Elm Corporate Credit Fund, DunPort’s €283m lending vehicle.

It was vital for us to work with an adviser who understood our aspirations and that of Wren Sterling to ensure we received investment from the right funder to support growth. The Clearwater team clearly understood those needs working closely with the management team and guided us through-out the entire process. They exhibited excellent knowledge and had strong relationships with the relevant funders. We would happily work with the team again in the future.

Wren Sterling has continued to go from strength-to-strength over the last 12 months, having traded well in a challenging market. We would like to thank the Clearwater team for managing this process and providing sound advice to stakeholders throughout. We look forward to the future of the business and utilising DunPort’s investment to enhance our services for clients further.

Ian Darby, Executive Chairman, Wren Sterling

DunPort Capital Management is delighted to have provided acquisition financing to Wren Sterling to support their strong pipeline of opportunities. We look forward to working with Ian Halley and the rest of the senior management team over the coming years as Wren Sterling continues to build on their impressive track record to date in the IFA market. DunPort is focused on the provision of flexible debt capital to well-managed, high quality SMEs and mid-sized corporates in both the UK and Ireland and Wren Sterling is the exactly the type of business we seek to support.

Pat Walsh, Director, DunPort Capital Management

It was a pleasure working with Palatine and the Wren Sterling team and a great result for all parties involved in the transaction. We are confident that the additional financing provided by DunPort will enable the company to continue on its growth trajectory in the UK and further strengthen its place in the market.
