The Clearwater team has advised the Hotelier family Hoppeler on the sale of two hotels at Bellevue in Zurich to Meili Unternehmungen.
After 90 years, the third generation of the Hoppeler hotelier family has sold its traditional Ambassador and Opera hotels to Meili Unternehmungen AG in Zollikon due to a lack of succession. The sale of these striking buildings from the Wilhelminian era was carefully prepared over a long period of time and accompanied by specialists. Michael Böhler will not only continue as Director of the two hotels but will also act as Group General Manager of the Meili hotel group with its seven establishments in Zurich and Klosters.
Meili Unternehmungen AG Zollikon is managed in the second generation by the brothers Yves and Dr. Raffael Meili. Following the acquisition of Opera and Ambassador, the young entrepreneurs have established a group of five individual and charming boutique hotels with a high level of comfort in Zurich. The three existing establishments are the Hotel Seehof, which is directly adjacent to the Hotel Opera, the historic Hotel Rössli near Hechtplatz (Oberdorf) and the Hotel Basilea on Zähringerstrasse (Niederdorf), close to Central. In addition, Meili Unternehmungen has owned and operated the well-known Piz Buin and Sport hotels in Klosters for many years.
