Clearwater Denmark has advised Netgroup, a full-service hosting company, on its sale to Sentia, backed by the international private equity investment group, Waterland.

Netgroup is a leading and renowned provider of subscription-based managed services in Denmark. The company has a strong focus on technical knowledge within both private and public cloud services, resulting in growing annual revenue rates. Netgroup also provides colocation, managed networks and hardware sales to companies of all sizes across all regions of Denmark.

Sentia is a Benelux originated hosting service company, with over 20 years of experience and offers complete and safe cloud solutions. Sentia began its geographical expansion into Denmark in 2016 with the acquisition of hosting providers Solido Hosting and Jaynet. Since then, Sentia has continued its consolidation of the Danish hosting market with the acquisition of Hosters, Athena and Cohaesio, positioning Sentia as a key player in the Danish cloud services market.

During the last three years, we’ve seen a number of transactions in the industry and had the pleasure of advising on 8 of them. The majority of these involved international buyers, where we have knowledge and access to the buyer population and understand what they are interested in. The managed service market is experiencing a tendency to convert to public cloud hosting, with companies focusing on consolidating in order to be able to offer a wider and stronger suite of services. This allows customers to access the services through an on-demand model, enabling unlimited scalability and lower costs. We expect to see continued M&A activity in a market for managed services that is in rapid development and currently experiencing double-digit growth rates.
