We have advised the Nordic private equity client MVI on the sale of Biototal Group, a circular economy leader that refines waste fractions and develops ready-to-use products for agricultural and industrial applications, to SEB Private Equity, a Nordic-based global private equity investor.

Biototal transforms waste fractions from industrial infrastructure—including wastewater treatment plants, processing industries, and nuclear rod production—into economic and environmental value for customers in agriculture and land restoration.

Under MVI's ownership, Biototal expanded both organically and through the strategic acquisition of Mewab in 2021, growing approximately €8.3m (SEK 95m) in sales to €22m (SEK 250m).

With SEB Private Equity as its new growth partner, Biototal’s reinvesting founders are well-positioned to advance circularity further and continue the company's profitable growth journey, while also enhancing its position as the industry’s most attractive employer.

Since MVI's initial investment in Biototal in 2020, the company has grown from approximately €8.3m (SEK95m) in revenue to €22m (SEK250m), driven by both a major strategic acquisition and organic growth in its existing business, as well as the introduction of new products. Biototal’s business model is of critical societal importance, as it identifies, utilises, and refines by-products, contributing to closing the circular loop between urban and rural areas.
