Clearwater has advised the owners of Kaffekapslen, a leading European direct-to-consumer (DtC) online coffee capsules store, on its sale to Swedish investment company, Ceder Capital.

Since its establishment in 2011, Kaffekapslen has experienced consecutive high growth and is today positioned as a market leader within coffee capsules in selected e-commerce markets. Deep product knowledge supported by a data-driven business model has resulted in peerless conversion rates and strong customer retention.

KaffeKapslen is sending out 4,000 to 5,000 daily orders to its 700,000 customers in ten different countries in Europe. All orders are packed and shipped from Kaffekapslen's headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark.

Ceder Capital is a Swedish investment company that, together with management, invests in Nordic growth companies in order to support further growth.

The transaction is expected to further fuel Kaffekapslen’s strategy of becoming the leading European online retailer of coffee-related products.

It has been a great pleasure advising Kaffekapslen in the search for an international partner to accelerate the company’s further growth. This transaction marks the first investment by Ceder Capital in Denmark and we are convinced that Ceder Capital, based on its strong experience within niche e-commerce, provides a perfect strategic fit with Kaffekapslen. This transaction also underlines the strong ongoing investor interest in attractive high-growth e-commerce business and we expect to see continued high level of M&A activity in the sector due to the increase in conversion from offline to online sales.
