We have advised Cisalfa Sport S.p.A. (Cisalfa Sport), a leading Italian sports retailer, on its strategic partnership with SportScheck GmbH i.Ins. (SportScheck), one of the leading omnichannel sports retailers in Germany.
This transaction is subject to approval of the German Competition Authority (Bundeskartellamt). After antitrust clearance, expected in April 2024, the transaction is set to close by June 2024. SportScheck will continue its brand and business, while also benefitting from the synergies of the Cisalfa Group.
SportScheck is one of the leading omnichannel sports retailers with over 30 stores in Germany. In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, consumers can access the extensive range of online products and services through the website, mobile, and app. Founded in 1946 by Otto Scheck, the company is still keeping the innovative and pioneering proposition of the founder to offer a new, holistic sports experience that is tailored to the needs of consumers and has become the meeting point for sporting experiences. SportScheck had to file for admission to the voluntary proceeding of insolvency in November 2023, after the previous owner filed for insolvency.
With over 150 stores, Cisalfa Sport is the largest Italian retailer in the sale of apparel, footwear, and sports equipment products. With its wide offering of over 250 brands, the expertise and training of its sales staff in the sports field, and an omnichannel purchasing experience, Cisalfa Sport can satisfy the evolving sporting needs of its customers.
This partnership will further strengthen Cisalfa Sport’s footprint in Germany and the DACH region, after its successful acquisition of Sport Voswinkel with 50 stores from INTERSPORT Deutschland, last year which was also advised by the team at Clearwater.
