We have advised Safran on its acquisition of Syntony, a French high-tech specialist in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and software-defined radio solutions that enable reliable positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) in complex and contested environments.
Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Toulouse, Syntony has developed a unique portfolio of software and hardware solutions addressing key limitations of conventional GNSS systems, notably in underground, urban, aerospace and high-interference environments. Its technologies are already deployed across several international infrastructure and defence applications, including tunnels, metros and space applications.
The transaction allows Safran Electronics & Defense to significantly strengthen its resilient PNT capabilities by integrating advanced GNSS extension technologies, while supporting the development of more compact and energy-efficient navigation solutions for next-generation civil and military platforms.
