We have advised the owners of the Danish cybersecurity software company CyberPilot on its sale to the German firm SEPPmail, which is owned by LEA Partners.

CyberPilot is headquartered in Aarhus and develops and sells a cybersecurity platform that focuses on the human aspect of cybersecurity. The platform includes, amongst other things, awareness training and phishing simulations, and is continuously being expanded with new products. CyberPilot was founded in 2016 and today operates a 100 per cent subscription-based business with just under 1,000 customers in Denmark and the rest of the Nordic region.

The German private equity firm LEA Partners acquired SEPPmail in September 2025 with a view to building a European Email Security Suite. The investment in CyberPilot strengthens both the product and the geographical presence in the Nordic region, where CyberPilot, with its strong market position and complementary products, contributes to a stronger overall platform.

Selling your business is a demanding process, even if you’ve got your ‘basic requirements’ – such as data, etc. – sorted out in advance. Not least, it is mentally demanding, because there is so much at stake. And that is why it is so important to have an adviser like Clearwater on board, who has been through this countless times before and who knows and understands the difficult phases that you, as a founder, go through during the process. We’re delighted about the partnership we’re now entering into with SEPPmail, a player we hadn’t even had on our radar. With them, we’ll have the opportunity to embark on yet another exciting chapter with a clear vision for the years ahead.

Rasmus Hangaard Vinge, CEO, CyberPilot

Led by its outstanding team of founders, CyberPilot has built an exceptionally streamlined and data-driven business over the last ten years. The result is a scalable SaaS platform in the field of cyber security that addresses a need no business can afford to ignore. These two factors are a major part of the reason for the significant interest we saw in CyberPilot. We are delighted that CyberPilot’s future partner is now SEPPmail. The two companies complement each other well, both geographically and in terms of product range, now offering an even broader portfolio of email security solutions across the Nordic region and the DACH region, and we look forward to following their development. This partnership also underscores the trend we are seeing, whereby SaaS companies backed by private equity funds are strengthening their position through investments in companies with complementary products.
