Today, we have announced that KeyCorp, one of the leading regional banks in the US, will acquire the UK entity of Clearwater, marking a major strategic investment in the UK business.
This agreement builds on the successful collaboration agreement established between Clearwater and KeyCorp in 2020. It will benefit our clients both in the UK and across Europe, unlocking deeper access to US-based private equity sponsors and corporate acquirers, as well as bringing together highly complementary sector expertise and service line capabilities.
The UK business will remain closely connected with colleagues across Europe and will continue to play an active role in supporting collaboration across the firm, strengthening our ability to deliver integrated cross‑border advice for clients.
Our recent momentum has been years in the making, built on the foundations of trusted client relationships and a deep-rooted team culture. This investment from KeyCorp will only enhance our position in the market and the outcomes we achieve for our clients.
Bruce Weir, COO, Clearwater:
“This transaction reflects the success of our partnership with Key that has delivered consistently for clients. It is also an endorsement of Clearwater’s broader business strategy and commitment to growth.”
Mark Taylor, CEO, Clearwater UK:
“This is a significant milestone for our business and a major new chapter in Clearwater UK’s growth story. Having partnered with Key for many years, we are confident that both organisations know each other extremely well and that our values and cultures closely align. We are really pleased that Key recognises the strength and potential of our business, our differentiated model and the calibre of talent in our team. Importantly, our service offering to our clients and our core market will remain unchanged, only enhanced.”
