We have advised Medmark, Ireland’s largest and most established occupational healthcare provider, on its acquisition of Blackwell Associates, a leading Northern Irish occupational health firm, marking Medmark’s entry into the Northern Irish market and the creation of Ireland’s largest all-island occupational health provider.
Founded in 1987, Medmark delivers workplace medical assessments, employee wellbeing services, and specialist clinical support to public and private sector organisations, supporting over half a million employees nationwide. As part of the transaction, Medmark has also opened a new purpose-built clinic in Dublin City Centre, increasing its office footprint across the island from seven to nine locations.
Blackwell Associates, based in Belfast, has provided occupational health, medical screening, and workplace assessment services for more than 25 years. It serves over 70 public- and private-sector clients, including many of Northern Ireland’s largest employers, and is recognised for high-quality clinical standards and strong sector capabilities across healthcare, manufacturing, aviation, energy, and government.
The acquisition combines two respected, long-standing providers into a unified platform with more than €20 million in turnover and a 160-strong team, significantly expanding Medmark’s clinical reach and capacity. Together, the group will be uniquely positioned to support employers of every size and sector with the most comprehensive, scalable occupational health solutions available across Ireland.
