Clearwater has advised the owners of CURA of Sweden (CURA), a manufacturer and distributor of weighted duvets and sleep products, on the sale of the business to private equity firm Verdane.
CURA of Sweden was founded in 2017 and has in a very short time established itself as the leading brand within weighted duvets and other sleep related products. Hundreds of thousands of customers have, in the past few years, improved their sleep with the help of CURA’s weighted duvets. Driven by Johan Andersson from Sundsvall who has extensive experience in health-related products and backed by an expert panel of renowned sleep scientists and brand ambassador Börje Salming, the company places large focus on the functional, quality and sustainability aspects of the product. CURA has grown rapidly and established distribution throughout the Nordics through a vast range of retailers and continues its push for international expansion through multiple larger geographies.
In order to continue the rapid growth and to also secure the firm support of a knowledgeable partner, Verdane became the natural choice after a process in the spring of 2020, adding new competencies and management to the board. The founders remain in the business with a significant ownership stake post transaction.
