We have advised Osterwalder AG (Osterwalder), a sintering machinery supplier, on the sale of its business, including the international sales and service organisations as well as the real estate, to Picanol, a business unit of Tessenderlo Group N.V. (Tessenderlo).
Headquartered in Lyss, Switzerland, Osterwalder is recognised for its expertise in electric powder presses and operates its production facilities in Switzerland, with sales and service organisations across the US, China, and Japan. The company is a global market leader in specific high-tech and advanced solutions segments, including sintering for producing hard metal tools, high-precision ceramic parts for joint replacement and watches, and nuclear fuel rods for nuclear power.
Sintering technology is a thermal process that transforms loose powder materials, typically metals or ceramics, into solid, dense components by heating them to a temperature below its melting point. This process is fundamental in powder metallurgy and advanced ceramics manufacturing, and sintering enables the production of parts with tailored mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties.
Osterwalder will continue to operate under its brand name, and this acquisition will strengthen Picanol’s position in high-tech machinery.
Tessenderlo is quoted at the Cboe Europe Equities (NL) Exchange (TESB).
