We have advised Sarenza, an online shoe retailer owned by two managers and backed by HLD, BPI France, and Philippe Foriel-Destezet, on its sale to Monoprix, a subsidiary of Casino, to develop its e-commerce activity.

Founded in 2005 and based in Paris, Sarenza is a pan-European specialist in online retail offering a wide range of shoes and accessories from mid to high-end products. Sarenza, which has 300 employees, claims over €250m in revenue in 2017, before returns, and sells more than 650 brands in 30 European countries.

This acquisition will enable Monoprix to accelerate its digital transformation, from 2% of sales in online fashion, beauty, and home to 10%. At the same time, by backing a traditional distribution group, Sarenza is perpetuating its business model.

Casino Group will strengthen its leadership position for urban e-commerce in France, thanks to Sarenza’s acquisition and expertise. The acquisition will place Monoprix at the front when it comes to online fashion and decoration sales.
