We have advised Frankham Group (Frankham), a leading property and construction consultancy, on its partnership with LDC, to support its next phase of growth. Our integrated team provided both M&A and Modelling & Data Analytics support.
Headquartered in Sidcup, Kent, and established in 1982 by Steve Frankham MBE as a building surveying practice, Frankham has become one of the UK’s leading multidisciplinary consultancies for the built environment. Today, employing c.250 people, it delivers a broad range of end-to-end services, spanning fire and building compliance, surveying and project management, engineering, and design. It has over 700 private and public sector clients and works on projects across the housing, infrastructure, commercial and other sectors.
Frankham has doubled turnover over the past five years, underpinned by growing demand for compliance-led services driven by regulatory and legislative change. Historically focused on London and the South East, it has recently expanded to other parts of the country and in April 2025, opened an office in Birmingham – its fifth site, alongside Sidcup, London, Stevenage and Oxford.
LDC is backing CEO Richard Chitty and his current management team as they pursue an organic and acquisitive growth strategy. Richard has been with the business for 32 years – starting as a surveyor and has served as Group Managing Director since 2008.
LDC’s investment will help Frankham accelerate its 2030 growth strategy, targeting further geographic expansion. The transaction will also see Steve Frankham MBE retire after leading the business for 44 years.
More about the process
Drawing on extensive sector knowledge, our M&A team showcased Frankham as a well-established multi-disciplinary built-environment consultancy, by highlighting its strong market position, blue chip client base and strong growth trajectory. The team executed a highly-targeted private equity process with a select number of UK investors, through which LDC emerged as the preferred partner for both existing shareholders and the rolling management team as the business enters its next phase of growth.
Alongside this, our Modelling & Data Analytics team developed an integrated financial model to translate Frankham’s growth ambitions into a clear and credible forecast. Built with management and underpinned by well-considered assumptions, the model was used extensively by stakeholders across the transaction to provide transparency, confidence, and a strong analytical foundation.
