We have advised GSE, a leading European design-and-build contractor, on the acquisition of Critical Building, a French company specialised in data centre design, engineering, and project execution.
Founded in 2006, Critical Building has nearly 20 years of experience in critical infrastructure, supporting public and private clients across the full lifecycle of their data centre projects, from site selection and technical design to project management, commissioning, and operational support.
This strategic transaction enables GSE to expand its expertise in the fast-growing data centre segment, establishing a European Centre of Excellence for data centre engineering within the Goldbeck Group, its parent company. The combined platform will provide a fully integrated design-and-build offering, delivering innovation, reliability, and performance to meet the sector’s growing demands for speed, flexibility, and security.
By joining forces, GSE and Critical Building bring together complementary expertise and shared values of commitment, transparency, and client value creation. The collaboration will enhance GSE’s capabilities in the design and execution of complex data centres, strengthening its position as a reference partner for high-performance and sustainable digital infrastructure projects across Europe.
Critical Building will continue to operate independently within the group, maintaining its identity and governance while benefiting from GSE’s industrial and financial backing.
This acquisition is fully aligned with the Goldbeck Group’s European strategy to reinforce its leadership in the data centre sector and to further invest in digital infrastructure development across the continent.
