Role

Adviser to Knudsen Plast on its sale to MGS

Sector

Healthcare

Region

Denmark

We advised Knudsen Plast, a leading CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation) specialising in injection‑moulded plastic solutions for the healthcare industry, on its sale to MGS, a global healthcare CDMO.

Headquartered in Frederiksværk, Denmark, Knudsen Plast brings over 40 years of expertise in product and production maturation, precision injection moulding and quality control. The company operates ISO 13485-certified facilities in Denmark and Slovakia and employs more than 200 people, supporting leading European medical and healthcare clients from development through to high‑quality series production.

MGS, headquartered in Wisconsin, US, is a global CDMO serving the healthcare and pharmaceutical markets. With 13 sites worldwide, MGS is recognised for its precision plastics capabilities and vertically integrated, end‑to‑end solutions across the entire value chain.

The combination of the two companies creates an even stronger one‑stop shop for customers in the Medico and Pharma segments, with an enhanced presence across North America and Europe, while enabling further investment in Knudsen Plast’s future growth.

We feel very comfortable with MGS, which is the ideal buyer to develop and carry all the companies into the future. A sales process of this calibre is hard work, and we quickly realised that Clearwater was the right choice to manage the process. A process that has been driven by a truly skilled and professional team who have guided us through all phases and fully understood that we needed to be able to run the business as usual, right up to the final, and very positive result.

Christian Hamdrup Overland, owner and chairman of the board, Knudsen Plast

The medical industry has seen significant consolidation among subcontractors in recent years. The shift towards single-use devices is driving innovation and substantial growth in production. Knudsen Plast has a strong reputation as a specialised CMO, attracting interest from many players. MGS was the obvious buyer, with Knudsen’s facilities in Denmark and Slovakia complementing MGS’s existing network, particularly strengthening their long-missing footprint in Eastern Europe and enabling them to serve global customers even better.
