Clearwater has advised private equity firm C2 Capital Partners on its investment in Grupo Simoldes, one of the largest European mould manufacturers, to support the business’ growth strategy and R&D investments.
Grupo Simoldes, founded in 1959, is one of the largest European mould manufacturers, supplying key automotive OEM’s such as BMW, Daimler, Stellantis and Volkswagen. Simoldes has 19 production units across eight countries within their two main divisions: tool and plastic. The tool division produces moulds of all sizes and specifications, while the plastic division is engaged in plastic injection of interior, exterior and engine parts for cars and motor vehicles.
C2 Capital Partners is a renowned Portuguese private equity firm with more than 10 years of experience, having a recognised track record encompassing several significant investments and disinvestments in Portugal and abroad. Created in 2018, the C2 R&D Growth IV fund aims to support mid-cap companies looking to pursue and increase their investments in R&D projects.
C2 Capital Partners’ investment will support Grupo Simoldes’ growth strategy in the tool and plastic divisions, with a focus on R&D projects to improve the group’s market position worldwide through innovative and more value-added products.
