We have advised Iisveden Metsä Oy, a manufacturer of high-quality sawn spruce timber, on the sale of its business to Koskisen Oyj, a Finnish-listed group.
Iisveden Metsä specialises in producing sawn timber in fixed lengths, sourcing raw material from the best spruce forests in Finland. Its products are used in premium-grade panelling, flooring and furniture applications, where only the highest quality will suffice. The company, based in Suonenjoki, Finland, has 50 employees and generates a turnover of approximately €53m.
Koskisen is an international wood processing specialist with over a century of expertise. The company’s key market segments include sawn softwood, birch plywood and chipboard, with a total revenue of €282m in 2024.
This acquisition is highly strategic for Koskisen, offering significant synergy benefits Iisveden Metsä’s customers and target markets complement Koskisen’s customers and markets in an optimal way. Both companies are focused on premium quality and price markets such as in Japan and Italy.
The completion of the transaction is subject to approval by Finnish and Estonian competition authorities, a qualified majority at the General Meeting of Iisveden Metsä, and other standard closing conditions.
