We have advised Picqer, the market leader in Dutch warehouse management software (WMS) for growing e-commerce businesses, on its sale to Katapull, a Rotterdam-based commerce platform backed by Nedvest.
Founded in 2012 by Casper Bakker and Stephan Groen, Picqer has built a strong reputation in the Dutch e-commerce market. The software covers the full warehouse workflow, from purchasing and receiving through to inventory, picking and shipping, connecting with the webshops and carriers its customers rely on day to day. The platform supports both direct e-commerce webshops and fulfilment operators managing warehouse operations for multiple clients, and is known in the market for its ease of use.
Katapull runs a Commerce Hub of specialised software companies, each covering a different part of the operational e-commerce chain, including DeliveryMatch, EffectConnect, Highbiza, Logic4, Returnista, Transus and Vendit. Together they give customers a single point of access to connected tools spanning ERP, logistics, marketplace management and EDI.
Picqer's addition brings dedicated warehouse management into the Commerce Hub for the first time, rounding out its coverage of the e-commerce chain from stock through to picking and shipping. The two businesses serve a similar mid-market customer base, and the deal also gives existing Katapull customers a route to Picqer's more extensive WMS functionality as their warehouse needs grow. Picqer will continue to operate under its own name, with its team remaining in place to lead the business day to day.
Clearwater acted as exclusive financial adviser to Casper Bakker and Stephan Groen throughout the process, helping them run a focused and competitive sale and land on Katapull as the partner best placed to take Picqer forward. This transaction adds to our growing track record in SaaS and e-commerce technology, and reflects our continued focus on guiding founder-led businesses through successful exits.
