Ooh AAH Cantono...Two weeks. Nil hassle. That was the time it took from signing heads of agreement to exchanging on the sale of Cantono plc's state-of-the-art data centre business in Southampton to Scottish and Southern Energy plc.
Cantono Data Centre Services Ltd (“CDCS”), a subsidiary of AIM listed Cantono plc, is a high density data centre based in the South East with a state of the art modular design. It has c.80,000 sq.ft. of available raised floor space and a 15MW on site diverse feed (with a further 5MW available), making for a market leading cost efficient facility for customers.
SSE Telecom, part of the FTSE 100 listed Scottish & Southern Energy plc, acquired the business and assets of CDCS. The sale, to one of the UK’s largest utility companies, will provide access to funds for further development of the data centre business and give SSE a foothold in the fast-growing market for co-location facilities.
Clearwater was appointed by Cantono plc in March 2009 and ran an accelerated process in which completion was achieved within 3 months. During this time Clearwater extensively researched the UK and international buyer market contacting c.200 potential acquirers, culminating in a number of offers for the business. Having selected SSE Telecom as the preferred bidder an exchange of contracts was completed in two weeks.
